2021 Acura TLX vs 2021 Lexus ES

2021 Acura TLX vs 2021 Lexus ES2021 Acura TLX vs 2021 Lexus ES

2021 Acura TLX vs. 2021 Lexus ES Overview

The new Acura TLX is here, and we're proud to report there's a lot to love about this performance sedan. Indeed, between its engaging drive, driver-centric cabin, and a generous suite of safety technology, this 2021 Acura model sets itself apart from its segment in more ways than one. With the new TLX now in our showroom, we at Acura of Oakville took the opportunity to see how this stunning sedan measures up against a popular rival in the 2021 Lexus ES. Those based in Oakville, Ontario or any of the nearby areas of Mississauga, Burlington, or Milton can find out how the 2021 Acura TLX separates itself from the new Lexus ES below before visiting our dealership at your leisure.

Comfort & Convenience

Thrill-seekers will be glad to hear the 2021 Acura TLX's interior style is as driver-centric as they come. With optimal forward visibility, a 12-way power-adjustable front seat with lumbar support, analog gauges, and a dash-embedded rotary drive-mode selector, this sedan's cabin has everything you'll need to enjoy its riveting performance to the fullest. Leatherette upholstery lines supportive seating for up to five passengers, with genuine leather available to those who'd like an added touch of refinement. Aluminum and open-pore wood trims lead the improvements to the 2021 Acura TLX's style, while a 10.5-inch head-up display and customizable ambient interior lighting rounding out its comprehensive lineup of available interior features.

As for the 2021 Lexus ES, what this sedan boasts in cabin materials, it lacks in practicality. While the latest ES's interior layout and dash design are nothing to sneeze at, its rear seats can't be folded, which makes it a challenge to load and transporting larger cargo.

Performance

The 2021 Acura TLX wouldn't be much of a performance sedan if it didn't pack some formidable hardware. A robust turbocharged motor resides under the new TLX's hood for 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, while a 10-speed automatic transmission is responsible for smooth, seamless shifts. Front-wheel drive comes standard, although Acura's lauded Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system is available for enhanced traction and control. In addition to responsive acceleration, the latest TLX sedan also hits the market with a fine-tuned chassis that makes it exceptionally fun to drive. This new Acura model's excellent body control, communicative steering, and sturdy brake system round out its dynamic performance, one that will win the hearts of most every kind of motorist, thrill-seekers especially.

The 2021 Lexus ES, by comparison, offers three available powertrains - including a hybrid variation - but you'll have to splurge on a 3.5-litre V6 engine to enjoy the kind of pep that compares to the Acura TLX. A continuously variable transmission and a front-wheel drive come system come standard in the latest ES, and while its handling and composure have rightfully earned it some praise, this Lexus sedan's acceleration proves a little lackadaisical when powered by its base engine or hybrid powertrain. The 2021 ES' performance is nothing to scoff at, but its ride is a little unathletic and tame compared to the more dynamic Acura TLX.

Safety

These two sedans come with respectable safety suites, and it's the 2021 Acura TLX that gets the nod. While the Lexus ES offers several popular features like standard automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning, the latest TLX's suite includes both of those and then some. This Acura sedan also boasts standard Forward Collision Warning and Lane Keeping Assist System, as well as Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, which comes at a premium in the Lexus ES. Those who value a comprehensive safety suite can also treat themselves to a Blind Spot Information function and a Rear Cross Traffic Monitor, both of which are available throughout the 2021 Acura TLX safety lineup.

If you'd like to request a test drive of the new TLX or find out more on how it bests the Lexus ES, contact us at Acura of Oakville, and we'll be happy to oblige.
