Let's take a moment and explore how these two luxury SUVs match up against each other.

Overview

Performance, Convenience and Comfort

The Acura MDX and Audi Q7 are both performance-oriented SUVs. The MDX offers a refined version of its legendary 3.5-litre V6 engine that produces 290 horsepower and, paired with front double-wishbone suspension, not only do you get exhilarating power but advanced control. Especially if you consider Acura's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), which allows you to channel that power for improved traction and handling in any condition. The base engine on the 2021 Audi Q7 is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that develops 248 horsepower. To add another layer of performance and efficiency, the 2022 Acura MDX features a quick-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission which you can utilize with paddle shifters, while the Q7 has an eight-speed.

Not all seven-passenger SUVs are made alike. The MDX offers four different packages, including the base, Tech, A-Spec, and Platinum Elite. Even at the base trim, the 2022 MDX comes with a wealth of luxurious amenities that are not found on the Audi Q7. The MDX offers a 12-way power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats, including 4-way power lumbar, while the Q7 only offers 8-way. This is just one example of how the MDX surpasses the Q7; there are many other options that the Q7 offers, yet they come with a hefty price tag.

Safety and Technology

Each of these vehicles is praised for there safety and technology features, however, the 2022 Acura MDX comes out on top with more standard technology. AcuraWatch safety and driver assistance technology is a suite of features that keep you and others safe. These technologies include the following:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection
  • Forward Collision Warning system
  • Lane Departure Warning system with steering wheel haptic feedback
  • Lane Keeping Assist System
  • Road Departure Mitigation system

The Q7 only has four driver assistance features standard, they are the following:

  • Audi side assist
  • Lane departure warning
  • Audi pre sense front
  • Audi pre sense rear
