Acura is making strides in the realm of electrification with the announcement of its all-electric 2024 Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S. The new models will mark Acura's first all-electric vehicles and highlight the brand's commitment to Precision Crafted Performance and innovative design. These vehicles boast impressive performance and range, premium technologies, and striking design features. Let's look at what the 2024 ZDX and ZDX Type S bring to the table.
Design and Technology
The ZDX and ZDX Type S were designed at the Acura Design Studio, featuring Acura's latest design language. The ZDX boasts a low and wide sleek silhouette with a long wheelbase and high-contrast surfacing, expressing Acura's commitment to performance from every angle. The ZDX includes Chicane DRLs and Jewel Eye LED headlights, while the ZDX Type S debuts a new Acura colour.
Inside the ZDX, the driver-oriented cockpit features high-end materials, premium features, and the latest intuitive technologies. These include an 11-inch Precision Cockpit Driver Information Cluster and an 11.3-inch Centre Information Screen. Acura's integration with Google built-in for seamless connectivity in the ZDX, with apps like Google Assistant and Google Maps available.
AcuraWatch, a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies, is standard across the ZDX and ZDX Type S. This includes Acura's first applications of rear cross-traffic braking and rear pedestrian alert. The newest technology, however, is AcuraWatch 360+, a system exclusively available in the ZDX Type S.
All-Electric Performance
The Acura ZDX was built on a state-of-the-art electric vehicle platform with a flexible battery architecture, a low centre of gravity, near 50/50 weight distribution, and engineering to deliver exhilarating performance, class-leading refinement and a premium driving experience. The vehicle's multi-link front and rear suspension complement the details of the ZDX and the ZDX Type S's athletic stance and proportions.
The ZDX and ZDX Type S offer unrivalled performance with an estimated 500 horsepower, providing keen handling, lightning-quick acceleration, and a substantial towing capacity. Acceleration, braking, and turning were significantly enhanced in the ZDX Type S without compromising comfort, refinement, or daily drivability. Drivers can customize the experience with drive modes, including Sport mode.
Charging Solutions
The Acura ZDX and ZDX Type S use fast DC charging at rates up to 190 kW, with an estimated 50 percent or 120 km of available range recharging in just ten minutes. Furthermore, the vehicles have a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can deliver 500 km of zero emissions.
