Superior performance runs in the Acura family, but driver, passenger, and pedestrian safety remain a top priority in any Acura vehicle, new and used. In the 2020 Acura RDX safety is lead by AcuraWatch. AcuraWatch is an array of driver safety and assistive technologies designed to give you the freedom to enjoy the drive more fully. The system was developed to detect and notify the driver of potential dangers on the road. It can even adjust the vehicle in some instances to help you avoid or mitigate specific threats. The RDX features the following safety features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow – this feature maintains a set speed while detecting the vehicle in front of you and allows you to set a following interval
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW) System – uses an onboard camera that is designed to calculate the distance between you and an object in front of you. It uses audible and visual warnings to alert you to reduce your speed
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) – utilizing a radar transmitter to calculate distance and approaching speed to an object in front of you, it is designed to alert you when the distance shortens, and no action is taken
  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDW) – designed to trigger both an audible and visual warning when you drift from your lane without signalling
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) – using a camera that identifies lane division markers, this system will detect when your vehicle is out of its designated lane
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM) – designed to alert and assist the driver if the car on the verge of drifting off the road
  • Blind Spot Information System (BSI) – detects vehicles within your blind spots during lane changes. Indicator lights located on either side of your vehicle’s windshield pillar will illuminate when a turn signal is active, and a vehicle is detected in the blind spot
  • Rear Cross Traffic Monitor System – uses bumper radar sensors to detect cars while in reverse.

Next Level Safety For the 2020 RDX

Acura’s next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure is designed to absorb and disperse frontal impact energy more evenly around the vehicle, so less of it transfers to what matters, the vehicle’s occupants. The 2020 RDX also features a surround-view camera system, enabling you to have eyes all around your RDX, even from inside. The available surround-view camera is engineered to give you a 360-degree view of the space around the RDX. Six distinct camera views, parking sensor information, dynamic guidelines that show your intended path, and a rear camera washer, work together to help you see better.
