Steps to Check Your Transmission Fluid?
The following is a general guideline on how to check your transmission fluid. If you have any specific questions regarding your Acura model, contact us or refer to your owner’s manual for specific instructions.
- Park your car on a level surface. With the engine on and your parking brake engaged, let the engine warm-up and continue to run during the transmission fluid check, unless your owner’s manual indicates otherwise.
- Locate the automatic transmission fluid dipstick. Refer to your owner’s manual for the location of the transmission fluid dipstick.
- Remove the dipstick, wipe clean, reinsert in its position, and remove it again. Be sure to use caution as the fluid may be hot.
- Your dipstick should have two markings. If the automatic transmission fluid level is low, you will need to add automatic transmission fluid.
- Add transmission fluid on your own, or schedule a service appointment at Acura of Oakville to have our technicians top up your fluids.
- Reinsert the automatic transmission dipstick.
